Anyone who remembers TV ads from the late 80's through to the end of the 90's will remember these Lunn Poly classics!
Lunn Poly - Get Away! Remember that? A regular feature from Boxing Day onwards on commercial television in the late 80's and 90's was the almost traditional Lunn Poly television adverts that were as much a part of most people's Christmas as Santa Clause!
Before the advent of the internet, the travel agent was the only significant way that a holiday company could sell its products, so once Christmas had passed; a critical period began for promoting travel agents. Lunn Poly were big spenders in this area as almost 40% of the entire holiday market was made up of bookings in January.

This Lunn Poly ad is of unknown vintage. We believe it is dated before 1984 when J. Walter Thompson handled the Lunn Poly account. From 1984 the account was run by WCRS until January 1996.

Get Away for less with Lunn Poly was the theme of this first advert (sound distorted), that appeared in 1988. Back in 1988 you could book your holiday with only £20 - how times have changed!
A year later and the same 'Get Away For Less - Only At Lunn Poly' was still the tag for this 11 second advert. Back then you could save a whopping £15 by booking with them!
Caribbean theme on this Lunn Poly commercial that was run in the autumn of 1990 to promote holidays for summer 1991.
Broadcast by Channel 4 on Friday 17th January 1992, this Lunn Poly special had a 'Bazaar' theme along with the 'Get Away' strapline.
Broadcast by London Weekend Television on Boxing Day 1992 during the film 'The Godfather', this Lunn Poly Santa Special is well remembered - a classic!
Snowmen - possibly the most famous Lunn Poly television advertisement of all time. Featured at Christmas time 1993 on both ITV & Channel 4 in anticipation of the huge January holiday booking season. This advert ran until April 1994.
'We could save £100, booking our Greek holiday at Lunn Poly' was the claim in this classic advert from winter 1994 promoting the 1995 summer season. Do you notice that in only a few short years, the discounts have got significantly larger!
"Lunn Poly, Where An Identical Holiday Can Cost You Less" was the tagline of this advert from 1994. This Lunn Poly advert featured Lenny Henry who was a popular character back then!

Price Dive 95 - Another Lunn Poly television ad for summer 1995. This time we are treated to a of 12% discount which would roughly equate to a £150 saving on a Nile cruise - Get Away!
Still using the Get Away tag in 1997 with a slight amaendment to the slogan, now Lunn Poly, A Better Way To, Get Away! Ad men, don't you just love them?
This advert promoting 1999 Caribbean holidays from Thomson at Lunn Poly is accompanied by a jaunty little tune but still had the 'Get Away' slogan, albeit slightly adapted to 'Get Away With More'.
Launched in 1999 when everyone was consumed by the 'Millennium Bug' and the impending disaster that will fall on mankind, this advert was promoting summer 2000 holidays, still using the tag 'Lunn Poly, A Better Way To Get Away'! It is also noted that this advert carried the web address of Lunn Poly www.lunn-poly.co.uk throughout this commercial. The internet had arrived and times were changing to how people booked their holidays.
